Gilchrist County is the last county in Florida chartered by the state legislature in 1925. The entire region is most scenic and unspoiled, something that is rare to encounter in Florida with the tourist boom. The residents of Trenton live in the midst of natural beauty of the region. A large number of thick natural woods, fresh water natural springs, ponds, and rivers, surround them. Life here is peaceful unlike that many cities, which are the county seat. It is a far cry from the rush and noise of contemporary life and is happy to be peaceful and tranquil. Old Timers like to think of the area as the Natural Florida, how Florida was meant to be.

A system that instills respects, restraint, tolerance, pride, responsibility and faith there are three phases of the Extended Day Program and the entire program can last up to a year, depending on the behavior and response of the inmate. As the program progresses, in each phase they have more facilities and better jobs and may be selected as peer facilitators. Each transition is marked by a formal graduation
