About the Community
The City of Callaway is in Bay County, just east of Panama City in the Panama City-Lynn Haven metro area of Northwest Florida. Near Callaway Bayou, East Bay, and the larger St. Andrews Bay system, the community has long been shaped by its waterfront setting and access to boating and other outdoor recreation.
Callaway was first incorporated in 1936 and later reactivated in 1959. The one-room schoolhouse, which operated from 1911 until 1936, is preserved at John B. Gore Park alongside the Ellie Fox Memorial Museum. The park also includes the Callaway Community Center, picnic tables, tennis courts, and a boat ramp with two floating docks that provides access to East Bay via Callaway Bayou. Hours and facility availability may vary.

Additional Details
Other local recreation areas mentioned by the city include Brittany Woods and Collinfurst, along with Patterson Park on Callaway Bayou. Veterans Park includes military tribute features such as an F-15 Eagle display and a pavilion dedicated to Technical Sergeant Robert Hodges. These neighborhood parks add picnic space, walking areas, and everyday outdoor amenities for residents and visitors.
The Callaway Sports Complex adds more recreation space with multi-use fields for baseball and softball, soccer fields, and a football field. The complex primarily supports youth programs and community events, so public access, field schedules, and amenities may vary by season and event use.
