Port Charlotte is a waterfront community in Charlotte County with more than 165 miles of waterways and convenient access to Charlotte Harbor, the Gulf of Mexico, and the natural shorelines of Charlotte Harbor and the Peace and Myakka rivers. The area is especially popular for boating, fishing, paddling, and golf, with several of Charlotte County’s courses located in and around Port Charlotte.

About The Community
Charlotte Sports Park is a major local venue for festivals and events and serves as the spring training home of the Tampa Bay Rays. Nearby Tippecanoe Environmental Park offers hiking trails, wildlife viewing, and more than 380 acres of scrub and pine flatwoods.

The Charlotte Players, the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra, and the Cultural Center of Charlotte County help anchor the local arts scene with theater productions, concerts, classes, and community events offered through much of the year. Schedules and availability may vary by season.

Port Charlotte was heavily affected by Hurricane Charley in August 2004, when the major hurricane caused severe damage across the Peace River corridor, including both Punta Gorda and Port Charlotte. The storm remains an important part of the area’s modern history.

Today, Port Charlotte continues to attract residents and visitors with its scenic waterways, parks, golf courses, and easy access to Charlotte Harbor. Popular activities include boating, kayaking sections of the Charlotte Harbor Blueway Trails, fishing the harbor and nearby Gulf waters, and exploring local preserves, mangrove shorelines, and wildlife habitats. With a relaxed pace and a strong mix of outdoor recreation and community amenities, Port Charlotte remains a welcoming base for exploring Southwest Florida.
