Riviera Beach is a waterfront city in Palm Beach County, set between Lake Worth Lagoon on the mainland and the Atlantic shoreline of much of Singer Island. Best known for its beaches, the Riviera Beach Marina Village, and easy access to boating, snorkeling, fishing, and Peanut Island, it blends working-waterfront energy with classic South Florida beach time. Visitors come for the wide sandy shoreline, nearby parks, and convenient access to the Intracoastal Waterway and Lake Worth Inlet.

Riviera Beach is home to the Port of Palm Beach and a strong U.S. Coast Guard presence, giving the city a long-standing maritime identity. On the mainland, Riviera Beach Marina Village serves as a hub for docks, waterfront dining, charter activity, and excursion departures that may vary by season. For boaters, the marina’s location near the Lake Worth Inlet makes it a convenient stop on South Florida and Bahamas routes, though services, slips, and availability can change.
One of the area’s early settlers in the 1880s was Judge Heyser, who bought land along Lake Worth from Frank Dimick and established the Oak Lawn Hotel as an early winter retreat. Over time, more families settled nearby, including several African American pioneer families who were part of the community’s early growth. A journalist’s comparison to the Riviera helped inspire the Riviera Beach name that endured.

Charles N. Newcomb later purchased the hotel property and additional acreage, helping shape Riviera Beach as a resort-oriented coastal community. Today the city includes residential neighborhoods, a working port, marina facilities, public parks, and the Singer Island beachfront. Phil Foster Park, beside the Blue Heron Bridge, is one of the area’s best-known outdoor spots for shore diving and snorkeling, with an underwater trail and frequent marine life sightings. Riviera Beach’s location between the lagoon and the ocean also supports paddleboarding, boating, fishing, and wildlife watching. Water conditions, visibility, beach flags, and park hours can vary by date and weather.
Beyond the water, Riviera Beach is also close to family attractions such as Rapids Water Park and seasonal experiences such as manatee viewing and educational exhibits at nearby Manatee Lagoon.
