Riviera Beach is a waterfront city in Palm Beach County, set along Lake Worth Lagoon and the Atlantic Ocean. Riviera Beach is home to the Port of Palm Beach and a strong U.S. Coast Guard presence, giving the city a long-standing maritime identity. One of the area’s early settlers in the 1880s was Judge Heyser, who bought land along Lake Worth from Frank Dimick and established the Oak Lawn Hotel as an early winter retreat. A journalist’s comparison to the Riviera helped inspire the Riviera Beach name that endured.
